Frequently asked questions

How old does my child have to be to go for a pony ride?
-Pony rides are appropriate for children between the ages of 3-12 years old.
-The child must be able to sit up alone, unassisted.
Do I have to sign anything prior to riding?
Liability Release
-All guests must fill out a liability release form on-site.
-Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the release form.
-Helmets are mandatory for all riders.  If you bring your own please be sure it is
a helmet with ASTM / SEI certification.
What time do I need to be there at?
-30 minutes prior to Ride start time.
-This will give enough time to fill out release of liability and get fitted for helmets.
What if we are running late?
-Due to the popularity of the programs we cannot accept late arrivals and the
            tour will not wait.
What if the weather is bad?
-The Ride will go rain or shine. If for any reason White Mountain Horseback Riding
closes due to weather you would be refunded in full.
Do I have to have prior experience riding horses?
-No, this is a great experience for those who have never been or those who have
been riding for years.   A beautiful, and unique view of our White Mountain trails.
If I do not want to ride, or I do not meet the restrictions can my child go without me?
-If the child meets restrictions stated above and is under 13, there may be
potential for a chaperone to ride in your place.  Call for more information.  Cost
for the chaperone is the same a single rider.
-If the child meets the restrictions and is 13 or older they could go without you as
long as a parent or guardian signs a release of liability for the child
(Management reserves the right to make all final decisions.)
Where does the ride go?
-The ride leaves the yard, heads towards the Saco river on a private
trail through the woods and along the fields; designated just for the horses.
How fast does the horse go?
-This is just a walking ride and the horses will not go faster then a walk.
-We are a gentle ride for tourists to enjoy the beautiful White Mountains at a
            scenic pace on horseback.
The horses' health is our number one priority, and 5hours of walking 7days a
week is more than enough work for them!  If you are looking for a more advanced
ride we are unfortunately not that place.
